The First Batch of Units of China
Time:2022-04-06 09:04:47

At 20:08 on November 8, with the slow rotation of the impeller of the No. 7 wind turbine, the first unit of the Three Gorges Group Jiangsu Rudong Offshore Wind Power Project officially start power transmission to Jiangsu Power Grid on the sea surface with a straight-line distance of about 50 kilometers from the coast of Rudong, Jiangsu. The power transmission from the grid marks the successful grid connection of the first batch of units in our country's first flexible DC offshore wind power project.

The Three Gorges Rudong Project is located in the Huang shayang waters of Rudong County, Jiangsu Province. It is the first offshore wind power project in Asia that adopts the flexible DC transmission technology. The generated energy is transmitted to the power grid through the flexible direct current transmission project (referred to as the Rudong- flexible DC project). The project is mainly composed of two offshore booster stations, one offshore converter station, one DC submarine cable, and one onshore converter station.

The offshore converter station of Rudong-Junior straight project is the first (set) construction task completed by the Three Gorges Group and related units in the industrial chain organized by scientific research. It is currently the offshore converter station with the largest capacity and the highest voltage level in the world. The converter station is responsible for collecting and outputting the electricity produced by the Three Gorges Rudong H6 and H10 projects (a total of 800,000 kilowatts) and the CGN Rudong H8 project (300,000 kilowatts) with a total capacity of 1.1 million kilowatts. distance transmission problem. It can effectively solve the problem of large-capacity and long-distance power transmission in offshore wind farms.

The DC submarine cable is the "artery" that transmits electrical energy. The ±400kV DC cable used in the Rudong- flexible DC project is divided into two poles, each of which includes a 99-kilometer submarine cable and a 9-kilometer land cable. It is the flexible DC transmission cable with the highest voltage level and the longest transmission distance in China. The Three Gorges Group supported the cable manufacturing unit to take the lead in successfully developing the ±400kV flexible DC submarine cable system, breaking through the technical bottlenecks such as low-crosslinking system soft joints and reaching the international leading level.

Rudong- flexible DC project further promotes the localization of equipment, such as the connection transformers of on-shore and offshore converter stations, GIS, reactors, and station transformers are all adopting domestic brands, which is an important step in the localization of the main electrical equipment. Among them, IGBT is the core component of flexible DC technology, and the project uses domestic IGBT components in batches for the first time.

It is reported that the Three Gorges Rudong Project will be put into operation as a whole in December this year. By then, the annual on-grid electricity will reach 2.4 billion kWh, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 1 million households. It saves about 740,000 tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.83 million tons, adding momentum to optimizing the local energy structure and ensuring power supply this winter and next spring, effectively helping to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".
